keeping up

lest you think i've abandoned this blog...well i did for a little bit. between a 3 year old, and eight month old, laundry, dinner, dishes, diapers, curch callings, family blog, e-mail, Etsy Shop, and filling blanket and doll orders, the one thing that totally fell through the cracks for a bit was this blog.
creative wise, this is what i've been up to recently.
one monkey baby rag quilt.
this blanket is 35x35 iches, criss-crossed squares and soft white minky fabric on the back. i got it done just in time for my mother-in-law to take it back to South Carolina with her for a customer of mine. i have to admit, i was sad to see it go. i loved it so much i was considering making it MY personal snuggle blanket. :)
okay, seriously, love these mermaid girls. a friend of mine showed me a picture of a mermaid picture out of a Pottery Barn Kids catalog and asked if i could make two dolls for her twin girls turning 6 August 1st. how could i resist? they have hand embroided faces, a felt heart on their chest, sequined fin, and a modest top. i can't wait for the girls to receive it and i have another order through the Etsy shop for two more of these dolls.

my 8 month old daughter went NUTS over these dolls and i finally had to hide them from her so she would do things like eat.

i made this shark blanket for a customer who's only request was that the blanket be "manly". the Dad's a Colts football player and apparently quite that man's man. he's also from Hawaii so i thought the sharks were perfect.

i added an "f" for the family's last name.
the black and white fabric is one of my all time favorite fabrics to work with.

i've been working on another giveaway to do in the next few weeks so keep checking back. it's going to be cute. :)

i just finished this Hoot Owl Family and Pennat Banner for my new-mom-to-be client.
my 7 mth old can't get enough of these owls and i've had to hide them in my room to keep them safe from little hands!
i think the black and white and bright color contrasts are eye-catching for babies.
the mom and baby each have a felt heart on their bums. i added a folded handkerchief to the dad's pocket and i personally love the flower on the mommy.
the pennant banner has 11 flags and measures a little over 6 ft long.

i love them all and hope the soon-to-be baby girl will love them in her nursery as well.

custom hoots

here are the finished custom mini hoots each one is 6 in. long.
i shipped them today and hope it's just what my sweet client was hoping for.

she e-mailed me today and told me she had the mobile all up and ready to greet these hoots.
i'll post a picture of her finished product when i get it. i can't wait to see it all together!

i have another new client who's having her third child and it 's a boy. i see cars, trucks, trains, and super heros in her future...:) i love little boys.
she e-mailed me to see if i could do 5 mini (5-6 inch) Hoot Owls to make a mobile out of for her nursery. um, yes i can and thanks for asking!
she used Alexander Henry's Spotted Owl in Natural fabric for her curtains and i got these fabrics to compliment the curtains and the room. even my husband loves them.
i've made two mini owls so far and i'm in love.
i see more mini owls in my future...
i love these custom orders and these darling clients who are letting my creative thoughts soar.

i have a darling new client who's pregnant with their first child and it's a girl. how fun is that?
she's ordered a Hoot Owl Family, a Pennant Banner, and a Bird Mobile. for colors she said,
"if you have a black and white damask, or some sort of black and white print, brown, bubblegum pink, light turquoise, lime green, orange.i want the sharpness and elegance of the black and white, with the whimsical fun of the bright colors."
these are the fabrics i get to create from. i think her choice in colors is so beautiful and i can't wait to get started on these projects.
i'll keep an update of the project's progression. can't wait to see it all come to life.
